How does a student receive detention?
Through a referral process, an HSMP student may receive a 1 to 2 hour detention, depending on the severity the offense, for any behavior infraction that violates the citywide standards of discipline mandated by the New York City Department of Education or any behavior that is determined by a teacher or HSMP staff person to be disruptive, unsafe or compromises the academic progress of the classroom or whole school environment.
